Graeme Linke was a highly competent defender who played most of and arguably his best football at full back. Recruited by Geelong from Hawkesdale he made his senior VFL debut in 1971 and went on to play 38 games over four seasons without scoring a goal. In 1975-6 he played with Woodville in the SANFL, making 16 appearances in his first season but only adding seven the following year. The 1977 season found him back in the VFL, this time with Footscray, but in two seasons with the club he only played five games. In 1979 he fronted up for Geelong Amateur in C Section of the VAFA and was awarded the Zachariah Medal as the best and fairest player in the competition.
